Virtual Office Hours - While I was a little concerned about virtual office hours in the beginning, it has not been as time consuming as I was afraid of. I use Zoom and often put the app on a tablet or phone so I can move around the house or campus then respond to students quickly. Sometimes letting them know I need to get on the computer and will be right there. I use static images as well as video and try to include an image of myself for connection to the student as much as possible. |

Synchronous Lecture (Live streaming of class) - students that can not be physically in class can attend virtually. Online students can attend a regular class session. Class sessions are recorded and used to create an online archive for students. An archive of lectures is available for students at www.raytoteach.com.

USB Document Camera ($99 Amazon) provides a method to share material with students without the need of a touchscreen and stylus.Thise device also seems to help maintain a connection when the internet connection is unstable. OLSI Leaders could use this to provide onlne interaction with students inexpensively.

Video Announcements - These let me connect with students and provide visual and verbal instructions to students, mutimodal. Students can see assignment requirements and resources available.

Student Feedback - This is done for specific homework questions, quizzes MML Ask My Instructor, and tests as needed. I also use it in my EDU261 class for specific technology questions. Feedback on tests is embedded into D2L feedback window for my Math050 and Math 055 students. I do this so students will have access to test feedback during the course to get ready for the final. I have noticed that A & B scores on tests don't get reviewed as much so I focus on grades lower than that but will record a video from a high score if a particular concept needs to be reviewed. PDF copies of the written portion of the test are posted in the feedback section of D2L for each test completed. Copiers at the school can scan and email. I use a PDF editor to annotate the test and return it to students. Feedback on quizzes and specific questions is sent directly to students.

Just-in-Time Learning - videos can be created and inserted into the MyMathLab platform to supplement author's materials.

Intelligent Agents - This is a communication tool in D2L that creates emails to students based on release conditions set. It can be individualized per student by using strings (computer code) that D2L has a list of available in the intelligent agent. I try and do some funny things here along with positive and not so positive emails.

Class Lectures - Based on the textbook selected for the course and modified with annotations along with inserted work space to provide room to work together as the material is presented in class. In a class using a digital platform this can help emphasize the textbook as a resource and make it more relevant to the student. Annotation done with the PDF editor Drawboard PDF.
